I did these headshots with my dear friend while I was in Minnesota shooting a wedding. Emily was gracious enough to let me stay with her while I was in town, and was so hospitable. I’ve worked with her before - taking headshots for her food blog, Yumbler. She is an incredibly talented cook, and I was lucky enough to enjoy a dinner she made for a few friends while I was there.
Back to the headshots… I love everything about them! The light, the bright colors, and the joy. This was the first session I shot with my new Sigma 50mm lens. I was like a kid in a candy shop! Needless to say, I’m pretty happy with this lens. It was a hot summer day, and we walked around down by Lake Harriet and the nearby rose gardens, laughing and capturing so much joy. Every time I look through them, I immediately feel brighter and inspired to go out and shoot.
I love taking headshots! They’re great for professional resumes and LinkedIn profiles, but I also aim to capture personality and joy. I always like to say that it isn’t a JBP shoot until I’ve asked you to spin in a circle! It’s just so good every time. Emily nailed it!
